Applications for
steam boiler seals
Our high-quality steam boiler seals are suitable for heating and steam boilers, process steam generators and apparatus. They are perfectly suited to the specific and challenging requirements of hand, head and manhole openings in steam boilers. Furthermore, thoenes’ steam boiler gaskets ® offer a genuine alternative to conventional fabric-rubber gaskets, as they are easier to install and offer significant cost advantages. They are ideally suited for steam and hot water at high temperatures and high pressures. Moreover, they do not harden and therefore have an unlimited shelf life.
Steam boiler gaskets in various types from thoenes ®
Our steam boiler gaskets are available in two different types.
The thoenes ® Type 1 steam boiler gaskets consist of a corrugated stainless steel carrier (1.4571) with a graphite layer reinforced with smooth sheet metal on both sides, or with a 0.5 mm thick graphite layer on both sides. The carrier profile and the linings are designed to ensure that, when installed and under load, the crests of the corrugations are always covered by the lining material. Our strength lies in the flexibility afforded by automated production. Type 1 steam boiler gaskets are suitable for various closures on steam boilers with surface roughness values of the ring and cover < 12.5 µm. Preferably for systems currently in use. They are suitable for temperatures up to 250 °C and pressures up to 40 bar. We offer them in round, square, oval or stadium-oval shapes, i.e. for handholes, head holes or manholes.
The thoenes ® Type 2 steam boiler seals consist of expanded graphite (purity grade min. 98%) with a stainless steel insert or a perforated stainless steel insert and are certified for use with an increased sealing gap of 4.5 mm. They are suitable for closures on steam boilers with surface roughness values of the ring and cover between 6.3 and 12.5 µm. Preferably for new installations. We also offer Type 2 steam boiler gaskets in round, square, oval or stadium-oval shapes, i.e. for handholes, headholes or manholes.
