Fitting a gland packing into a gland

Stuffing box packings are sealing elements. They are used to seal the passages through which shafts and rods pass through housings. As there is always a slight leakage in gland boxes, they contain what are known as gland packings – the actual seal – as well as gland rings, which form the closure of the gland box. Gland boxes with gland packings provide extremely cost-effective sealing solutions.
