The thoenes ® P638 – polyimide-PTFE-graphite packing is manufactured from alternating layers of graphite-filled PTFE multifilament fibres and polyimide continuous filament fibres.
Key properties :
- Good sliding properties,
- Pressure-resistant,
- Good resistance to organic solvents; fuels, lubricants and waste water,
- Polyimide fibres have good acid resistance,
- Not resistant to highly concentrated alkalis, alkali metals; fluorine compounds at high temperatures.
Polyimide fibre
- Max. continuous temperature 230 – 260 °C,
- Short-term exposure to 300 – 400 °C possible,
- Significant shrinkage from 300 °C.
Graphite-filled PTFE multifilament fibre
- Max. continuous temperature 250 °C,
- Short-term exposure to 280 °C possible.
