After the brothers August and Gustav Thoenes founded in 1878 their company and acted with technical greases and stuffing box packings for the sealing of boilers and pumps, they did not suspect that 140 year later, their name would become a brand and could stand next to sealing solutions for filtration and lightweight applications. Innovation has always been one of the major concerns of the company.
In 1890 the founders proved their innovative spirit with a patent for the production of asbestos plates. Today thoenes Dichtungstechnik GmbH sees itself in this innovative tradition and offers its customers a large number of tailor-made individual solutions for seals, filtrations and lightweight components.
Names are not sound and smoke, as Goethe used to say his Faust - the name thoenes is today a brand that stands for innovation and is used by nearly 1,000 customers, leading regional research institutes and business partners in and around the country and appreciated.
Since 2007 with the location of thoenes Dichtungstechnik GmbH in Klipphausen, the company has not only been more conveniently located and can be reached faster for customers and partners but also can be more flexible in the design of modern technological processes.
With the foundation place at Meißner Street in Radebeul, the company is still associated with its name - tradition and innovation.
To the historical milestones belongs in addition to the entrepreneurial skills of the founders and the generations following them during two world wars, nationalization, integration into a combine, and above all, the innovative power of a new beginning following the successful re-privatization of the early 1990s. Since then, thoenes Dichtungstechnik GmbH has been a family business again and is now successfully managed in the second generation. Son Thomas took over the management task from his father Dr. Rudolf Zocher, who has been doing the construction work since 1993 and continues to support the company.
